What Is A Life Coach and
Getting The Best From Life Coaching

Learn the features that define what a life coach is and how to get the best from working with me to overcome compromise and personally and professionally develop the life you want.

So What IS A Life Coach?

A partner for progress

Life coaching is formally defined as partnership with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential.

But this description is not the full story.  A life coach will help you identify what needs and behaviours may be holding you back, improve your communication skills, and build your confidence in the future.  And if they have the skills, qualifications and experience,  a life coach may also act as your mentor and counsellor.

The Missing Link

Life Coaching is often the Missing Link that fills the gap between what you have learned from books and seminars and having a customised  path created towards having your life as you want it both personally and professionally.

Most clients hire a coach to accomplish one or more specific goals and much of the time and focus is on these goals.  However, don’t be surprised if you discover new parts of yourself or find that your goals adjust to match who you really are.  This discovery process is natural, so you needn’t rush it.

Holding you accountable

A key role of your life coaching is to hold you accountable, handle any blocks, and keep you on track towards your goals and outcomes.

How To Get The Best From My Coaching

Be willing to experiment

Come to coaching  willing to experiment with fresh approaches (but only if and when they are appropriate for you.)

Changing how you operate in parts of your life can simplify the journey to reaching your goals and living a fulfilled personal and professional life.

In the coaching process I am there to guide and support you to......

  • Help you achieve your goals towards having life as you want it.
  • Guide you to change some of the habits that may not serve you, such as the how you might operate and react in difficult situations.
  • Experiment and try new things, even if out of your comfort zone at first.
  • Explore ways to remove sources of stress in your life.
  • Redesign how you spend you time.
  • Re-look at assumptions or decisions you’ve made.
  • Get the support you need to handle a problem.
  • Work on solutions to eliminating all the things and situations you are tolerating or are frustrating you.

Coaching sessions aren’t gabfests, but as we get to know each other we may chat a little to catch up on those parts of your life that mean a lot to you. Nevertheless, feel free to set the tone and I will respect what you need in this area.

We have work to do together, but I want you to enjoy your sessions with me even if at times we are handling difficult issues.

If this makes sense to you I look forward to the privilege of working with you on this exciting journey.
